Overview
Over a multi-year journey, the product evolved through continuous research, usage insights, testing, and design iterations, transforming UPRIO into India’s first last-minute exam revision app. Grounded in behavioural science and learning psychology UPRIO drives student engagement, parent trust, and conversion into paid learning.
Phase 1
Designing the First Exam Preparation App
BOMBAYDC started with student, parent, and teacher interviews to understand how students prepare for school exams and what parents need visibility into.
The first version focused on:
School-aligned content, mock tests, video lessons, personalised tutoring, parent visibility, and live session booking.
Business problem solved: Created a mobile-first, school-aligned exam prep application that could support students at home and give parents confidence.

Phase 2
Improving Engagement Inside the App
Once the first version was live, BOMBAYDC focused on making the free app engaging enough for students to keep returning, using fresh student and parent research to define features like Rewards Store, Free Exam Kit, Quiz Battle, coins, leaderboards, and referrals.
Business problem solved: Moved the app from being only functional to more habit-forming, motivating, and growth-oriented.



Phase 3
Measuring Feature Usage
After implementation, feature usage was tracked to understand what students were actually responding to.
The data showed strong engagement with testing, rewards, Quiz Battle, and activity-led features, while long-form study material saw lower engagement.
Business problem solved: Replaced assumptions with real usage data and identified the opportunity to sharpen the product’s positioning.

Repositioning UPRIO from a Learning App to a Guided Revision App
Usage insights showed that students used UPRIO most during revision, especially for tests, notes, and weak-area practice. This shifted the strategy from a general exam prep app to India’s first last-minute exam revision app.
BOMBAYDC redesigned the experience around guided revision plans, bite-sized content, MCQs, flashcards, spaced repetition, and weak-area reinforcement.
Business problem solved: Turned ad-hoc revision into a guided journey that tells students what to revise, when to revise, and where to focus.
